Adding Ozone, NO2, and CO to Your Sensedge Mini with the KM-208
The KM-208 adds ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide monitoring to the Sensedge Mini. This article covers what you need to install it and how to complete the swap on a device already mounted in your building.
What's new on your Sensedge Mini
The KM-208 is a new sensor module that adds ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and carbon monoxide measurement to the Sensedge Mini. With the KM-208 installed, your device measures every parameter WELL requires in its Air and Thermal Comfort concepts. That means certifying projects can cover 3 preconditions (A01, A03, T01) and earn up to 9 optimization points (A05, A06, A08, T06, T07) without annual on-site performance testing.
The KM-208 installs alongside a companion module, the KM-201, that combines particulate matter and TVOC into a single module. If you have an existing Sensedge Mini, you'll swap out both current modules (KM-200 and KM-203) and install the KM-201 and KM-208 as a pair.

CO2, temperature, and relative humidity sensors are built directly into the Sensedge Mini itself, not into the sensor modules. Swapping modules does not affect them.
Upgrading a device already installed
You do not need to take the device off the wall, disconnect power, or schedule a service visit. Sensor modules can be inserted and removed whether the device is on or off.
1. Open the front panel
Remove the front panel from the Sensedge Mini.
2. Remove the KM-200 module
The KM-200 is the silver module that measures particulate matter. Grip onto the module tab and pull directly away from the device.
3. Insert the KM-201 module
To maintain TVOC monitoring, particulate matter and TVOC sensors have been combined into a single module (KM-201). Align the module with the sensor module bay and press it in, making sure the Kaiterra logo faces outwards and the pin connectors sit along the top. When it seats correctly you will feel it click, and the sensor status light flashes once.
4. Remove the KM-203
The KM-203 is the gold module that measures TVOC. Same motion as step 2: grip the tab, pull directly away.
5. Insert the KM-208
Same motion as step 3: align, press in, listen for the click, watch for the flash.
6. Close the front panel
Just remember to place the front panel back onto the device to complete installation.
Confirm everything is working
Each sensor module has a status light that tells you whether it is healthy.
If the Sensor Status Light is:
- Off = Sensor module is working properly
- Flash Once = Sensor module is powered on Happens when the device turns on, or when you press a module in
- Flash Repeatedly = Sensor module failure Try re-seating the module and check the pin connectors for damage. Contact us if the problem persists.
- Constantly On = Sensor module needs to be replaced
Then open the Kaiterra Data Platform and confirm all parameters are reporting.
What this unlocks for WELL projects
With the KM-208 installed, your Sensedge Mini measures every parameter WELL references for continuous monitoring in the Air and Thermal Comfort concepts. Projects can use the sensor data pathway instead of annual on-site performance testing.
Preconditions covered (3):
- A01 Air Quality
- A03 Ventilation Design
- T01 Thermal Performance
Optimization points available (up to 9 across five features):
- A05 Enhanced Air Quality
- A06 Enhanced Ventilation Design
- A08 Air Quality Monitoring and Awareness
- T06 Thermal Comfort Monitoring
- T07 Humidity Control
What your project actually earns depends on its scope and how the data is used. Your WELL AP or project coach can confirm what applies to your certification pathway. See WELL Certification with Kaiterra for more.
